Shaoguan University is a state-run comprehensive institution, located in Shaoguan city Guangdong Province. Shaoguan city is in the northern part of Guangdong, which is the gateway to northern China. Shaoguan is a modern city with convenient transport facilities, and it is the Excellent Tourism City in China. It is also known for the famous historical and cultural heritage. With unique natural landscape―geological park Danxia Mountain which is famous throughout the world, National Forest Park Nanling Forest Park whose environment is quiet and beautiful, Nanhua Temple which is the key temple in China and the birthplace of Chan Sect―a genre of Buddhism, the climate here is mild and pleasant all the year long.
Shaoguan University was founded in year 1958. It is the only comprehensive university in north Guangdong Province. Shaoguan University is one of the Top 100- -University in arts majors in China. The campus covers 1.67 million square meters, with elegant environment and convenient living facilities. There are over 20,000 full-time students and about 10,000 students in adult education. It has established inter-school friendly ties and cooperation relationship with nearly 20 universities in Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Malaysia, etc. Shaoguan University offers Scholarships to international students every year.
Shaoguan University has set up Chinese Language Center which takes charge of teaching international students Chinese language. International students’ classrooms are equipped with multi-media facilities. We have air-conditioner, television, telephone, internet, microwave oven and washing machine in international students’ dormitory. Food in school canteen has a variety of tastes, which is sanitary, delicious and economic for the students. It costs a student about 1 to 3 U.S. dollars for meals per day in school canteen. Shaoguan University is well equipped with hospital, bank, super markets and other living facilities, providing a comfortable and convenient environment for all the students.

I. Opening Time for Spring Semester 2011: February 28, 2011
（Feb 24th is airport pick-up day, Feb 24th and 27th are register days ）
II. Educations for International Students
1) Language Student: Duration of schooling, 1-2 year.
Schooling Time: March & September.
2) Chinese Bachelor: Duration of schooling, 4 year.
Schooling Time: March & September.
3) General Bachelor: Duration of schooling, 4 year.
Schooling Time: September.
4) Short-term Language Course: Length of schooling, 1-3 month.
（Note：Students are free to take the course at any time. The school will start the class if there are 10 students or more. The course will put priority on training of listening and speaking skills in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), making the student familiar with Chinese culture.）
III. Application Qualifications
Notes: All applicants must hand in the following materials:
- Application Form
- Copy of a valid passport
- School/College/University diploma or certificate
- 400 RMB for application fee
IV. Application Procedures
1) Download & fill in SHAOGUAN UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS APPLICATION FORM. The FORM is available in the International Office or on the website of Shaoguan University.(http://www.sgufao.org)
2) Send the Application Form, copy of valid passport, copy of school certificates and 400RMB application fee to the University’s International Office before the final registration date.
3) The university will deliver “Offer of Place” and “Visa application form for foreign students” (JW 202 form) to qualified applicants 4 weeks before the date of registration.
4) Students admitted to Shaoguan University should go to the China Embassy or Consulate in person to apply for the student entry visa for studying in China (X Visa) with the “Offer of Place” and “Visa application form for foreign students”. (JW 202 form)
5) All the foreign students admitted to Shaoguan University should report to Shaoguan University’s International Office on schedule as required in the admission notice with the admission notice and JW 202 form. Those who fail to get the student entry visa because of timing problem may report to the university with a tourist visa (L visa) of more than 1 month’s duration and later changed to student entry visa with the University’s consent.

The cost is about 400 per semester depending on the individual’s specialty.
3) Accommodation Fees
International students are required to live on campus.
4) Application fee
400 yuan for each student.
5) Meal Expenses
Students may use Golden Dragon Card in all canteens of the university, and the average cost per day is about 10-20yuan.
6) Insurance
Half year: 300yuan/student One year: 600yuan/student

VII. How to get to Shaoguan University
Note：The University offers free airport pick-up service from
11:00am-5:00pm on February 24, 2011.
1) Students may take the flight to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport derectly from
home country. Then take the airport shuttle to the Guangzhou Railway Station.
2) Students may arrive directly at Shaoguan Railway Station from Guangzhou by CRH
(express train), which just takes 45mins. Or take the normal train to Shaoguan Eastern
Railway Station, which takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, or arrive directly at Shaoguan by
bus from the Bus Passenger Terminal of Guangzhou, the bus takes 3 hours.
3) After arriving at Shaoguan Railway station, take a taxi (approximately 10 mins from
Eastern Station, 30 mins from Railway Station) to the University.
4) The cost for Airport Pick-up Service:
①Arrive in the register time set in the Offer Letter，
3 persons or more arrive at the same time， 400 RMB/person
2 persons arrive at the same time， 600 RMB/person
1 person 1200 RMB/person
②Arrive beyond the register time set in the Offer Letter，
3 persons or more arrive at the same time， 500RMB/person
2 persons at the same time， 700 RMB/person
1 person 1400 RMB/person
